1973 Ford F250 – Joshua A.
Well there’s was this Ford truck sitting in this patch of grass right outside my neighborhood. I had been driving by it on my way to school everyday for over 3 years. I didn’t know much about it except that it was cool looking and it would be cool to have. Someone had left it there for junk. Well 3 years later I’m driving by it, and there’s an orange sticker on it. After school that day I went to check out the sticker, and it turns out someone had reported the truck as junk sitting on city property, and they were coming to take it away in a week. So I thought, If I don’t try and buy it now, I may never have another chance to get it. So I wrote a note with my name and number and stuck it on the Antenna. Well a few days later, I get a call from the guy who owns it offering to sell it to me for $1000. That was actually a pretty good deal because most of what was wrong with it was mainly cosmetic damage like surface rust. But besides that, the rest was in pretty good condition. It was a 1973 f250, 4 speed manual with a 1967 380 big block engine in it, and front disk brakes, so 1000$ was a very good deal. So I met up with the owner, his name was rick he was a really nice guy, and we bought it. Me and my brother drove it home and we parked it outside the house, and there it sat for a month. But I was tired of it sitting and I wanted to start the project for real, so we took it to my dad’s where we started working on it. We did a lot of front brake work, and we got seat belts for it. We pressure washed it and over half of what we thought was surface rust was just old dirt and it cleaned up really nice. I’m 14 now and hoping to fix it up really nice by the time I’m 16 and can drive. We have already put over $600 into it and it will take a lot more to finish it. This truck is really special to me because I have had my eye on it and had been passing it everyday for over 3 years. Now that it’s finally mine. It means a lot to me, it’s my first vehicle, I had always wanted my first car or truck to be old because that’s what I like, and it’s really special to me that I actually was able to accomplish that. I plan on keeping this truck for as long as I can, and that’s my LMC truck story.[lmc_story_gallery]
