First Truck for the Last Money

This story happened recently. About three years ago, when I was still studying in Krakow.

I lived with my girlfriend in a rented hut near Krakow. Together, every day, we only thought about how beautiful it would be to have an American truck. My friend with whom we folded his e36 compact in the garage after work, he sent me the link.

It all began with this. The history of the green ’92 Chevy Blazer 4.3 TBI 4×4. We made the decision quickly. The price was a bargain (3000 PLN ~ $800, but we didn’t have that cash. We were poor students. We borrowed money from a friend. There was also a second problem. The car was in Szczecin, 700 km from Krakow where we lived then.

The train runs on this route. We bought tickets, packed a toolbox (the car was uncertain), and went. If you did not travel by Polish train. I assume most of you don’t. Praise the Lord. Twelve long hours… I’m used to being uncomfortable. I like sleeping in the woods, in the tent, going to the mountains is my hobby right after the cars. However, riding a train in my country is suffering. Of course, we could choose first class but we didn’t have money for such luxury. We went in a class…the cheapest. As we got off at the station in Szczecin, I said so much. Even if I had to push this Blazer to Krakow, I will buy it anyway.

The owner who was supposed to come to us after the station came…by bus. Not his own. City bus. It turned out he was even younger than me. We went to the car. It turned out to be in bad condition. I looked into the exhaust, fired, and drove. I knew that we would return home with this car. We negotiated the price and bought a car. Along the way, the only problem was a leaking water pump we refilled every few dozen kilometers. We returned to Krakow with smiles from ear to ear…

As of today, Chevy is standing, chassis separately body. Stands and waiting for renovation. Brakes, suspension and bodywork are to be done. Complete renovation basically apart from the interior and the drive. We are slowly collecting money and time for this renovation.

I still have a lot of stories about our green friend. For example, how we fell into a sewer well, but that’s a completely different story.
