1964 Ford F100 – John T.
Slick Ride
John’s purchase of his 1964 F100 was the result of browsing Craigslist while vacationing in Phoenix Arizona. He stumbled on a listing for the pickup which was disassembled and had no frame. After negotiating a deal with the seller to allow him to store the parts till he returned a few months later with a trailer, he paid the man and that was the start of a two year build.
When he returned home to Alberta Canada he began by locating a shortbed frame in neighboring Saskatchewan and prepping it with a narrowed crown Victoria IFS and custom c notch and 4 link rear. Once the frame was sandblasted and coated it was time to go and pickup his project. The round trip was 52 hours of driving and included some salvage yard stops to acquire all missing parts.
The cab has had the floor pans replaced and all body seams removed. The box was fabricated to include a wood bed and a 4” lift to allow for the c notched frame. As well as all seams and stake pockets removed. Once the fabrication and bodywork was complete the controversial decision to spray the truck with satin sterling grey was made. It’s a love it or hate it finish. Straying away from traditional shiny paint was a choice that worked. The engine, interior and bed wood were all finished in red to really make the pickup pop. Moving the pickup down the road is a 90s era 5.0 fuel injected V8 with Automatic overdrive and 9” Ford with 3:70 Richmond limited slip rear end.
The pickup was completely disassembled, fabricated, assembled, painted and detailed in house at John’s Garage in Spruce Grove, Alberta (@johnsgarage). This included many Cnc machined custom parts. It’s a great cruiser and runs and drives like a new pickup. It fits right in with all the other Fords in the garage and gets exercised regularly. Hopefully enjoyed for years to come!
