1963 Ford F100 – Gary P.

Does it run????

My name is Gary and I purchased a 1963 Ford from a kid and here is how it went: I am a contractor in Texas so as I was driving to this certain job at the start of the week, I past by a old Ford truck that had a homemade sign by the front tire and it read, $50.00. I thought, wow, it must not have a motor in it so I just kept driving although I was thinking about the old Ford. Every day I passed it to work and back home. I thought, I should stop and ask about the truck but I didn’t. Until that same week, Friday, I was on my way to work and the sign on the wheel of the truck read $150.00. I thought wow he went up from $50.00 to $150.00, what’s the deal????

I thought, you know if that truck is still there when I get off work I’m going to stop and ask about it, so I did. The young boy came outside and I asked him if the truck even had a motor in it and he said yes. I said does it run and he said yes but that when you hit the brakes you will have to watch out because it will shoot you into the ditch. Well, I knew the wheel cylinders needed to be clean so I test drove the truck which was all original with a 223 hot water 6 banger and a 3 on the tree. To my surprise it didn’t smoke, nor use any oil, nor leak any oil so I gave the young man 150.00 dollars for the truck.

He gave me the title and the keys and I drove it home. Fixed the brakes and drove the truck regularly for two years straight with absolutely no problems to this day, that was back in 1999 and here it is 2020. I have to say this motor has never been into yet and still runs like a sewing machine and still all original. PS I’d like to know if anyone else had ever got a deal like this one.
