1971 Ford F100 – Wallace E.

The truck was originally purchased in 1971. In 1976 the owner decided to sell it. It had about 52,000 miles on it and he was asking $1,000 for it. My wife borrowed the money from her dad and purchased the truck.
The truck originally came with a 302 motor and a 3 speed transmission. It still has the original 302 motor but I changed the transmission to a C4 automatic transmission. I also changed the steering column to a automatic transmission column and I put power steering on it.
About 3 years ago I carried the motor to machine shop and had it rebuilt. While I was waiting to get the motor back I rebuilt the front end of the truck. I removed the twin I beams and replaced the king pens and all of the bushing and ball joints.
About 10 years ago I had the truck painted. Before taking it to the paint shop, I removed the bed and painted the frame and under the bed. I also, removed all of the chrome trim and bumpers before I carried it to the pain shop. When I got the truck back from the paint shop I started replacing the chrome trim and bumpers. Trim that I cannot get new, like the tailgate piece and the rocker trim, I cleaned and buffed it to a clean finish.
Except for the wheels, I try to keep the truck looking the original way it did in 1971. It still has the original am radio with a fm converter and the distributor ignition still has points and a condenser.
Today the truck has about 172,000 original miles on it. I keep it in my shop and only drive it to local car shows about once a month. I had the motor rebuilt 3 years ago and it has less than 500 miles on it since it was rebuilt.
I have always enjoyed the help from LMC with the parts I have needed while restoring our truck.[lmc_story_gallery]
