1989 GMC Sierra – Donny D.
Ol Blue
Only brand new pick up truck I’ve ever owned, told my wife if I could just get one brand new pick up I’d make it last forever. In 1989 my dream came true, I decided on the GMC because I liked the grille better than the Chevy. I put a cab high fiberglass topper on it right away as I was bass tournament fishing at the time. Ran it that way for years until I quit the tournaments. I’m guessing 10-12 years ago the truck was sitting outside when a hail storm came through and insurance almost totaled it. But decided it was worth the rebuild, so the truck came blue on top and bottom and silver down the middle. We decided to go all midnight blue. All body work was done, plus new cowl induction hood, new back bumper, grille, headlights, parking lights, led taillights, license plate light, chrome valance, insignias, leather seats, billet steering wheel with GMC horn kit, Pioneer stereo and power amp, kicker 300 watt sub behind passenger seat, (gives a nice massage to the passenger) power door lock kit, most all from LMC. They have everything to keep this classic in top shape. Changed tires and wheels to ASA 20″ wheels and Goodyear 20″ tires. Motor still doesn’t use any oil between oil changes with 220,000+ miles on it. It still runs and drives like it’s got less than 50,000 on it…I did have to replace the tranny after all the miles pulling a heavy fiberglass bass boat all over the midwest with a Jasper bullet proof tranny. Lots more has been replaced like a lot under the hood, it turns heads every time I drive it.
