Brownie recipe

This is the longest vehicle I have owned; some say I sell and trade vehicles like normal people change their underwear, but I’ve had “Brownie” since 2008. At the time, I had been working on converting a 66 Chevy Corvair Corsa into a drag car- 400 SBC in the front and all. I quickly realized I was in over my head even with Dad’s (Reed’s) help. A deal came across to trade “even” for this 84 GMC short bed with “really good bones” aka “Brownie.” Brownie wasn’t much to look at to say the least but had a lot of potential. Dad and I decided this would be a more manageable father son project and would result in less arguing than the Corvair as we worked together to create our end vision. Shortly after the trade was done, Dad passed away unexpectedly. I didn’t know what to do at the time; while I wanted to keep Brownie, I also wanted to sell it because every time I saw the truck it made me tear up. I ultimately decided to put it on the back burner until the time was right. Fast forward 10 years- after sharing it’s history with my wife Jaclyn and with her encouragement, I decided it was finally time to turn this truck into something worth looking at, in honor of Dad. From that day until now I have completed a frame off restoration and touched every nut and bolt from bumper to bumper (99% of them replaced). Dad and I had agreed (surprisingly) we wanted it to be clean, simple, and rowdy but classy, so that remained my goal. This is the first frame off restoration I have ever done but I think I had some “silent” help during the countless hours spent on it. I will keep this square for the rest of my life in hopes to pass along to my son one day. I want to thank LMC for reproducing all the excellent parts that make all this possible and keeping these trucks alive.
P.S. She is called Brownie because prior to her face lift, it was a mixture of rust and brown paint.
Thank you, Kyle
