1989 Chevy Silverado – Beverly N.
It’s a Keeper!
Jimmy N. and his 1989 Chevy Silverado
I restored this truck in honor of my father-in-law Ronald T. Sr. He was the original owner. He purchased it off the showroom floor just before he retired. It was his dream truck.
He unexpectedly passed away in 2003. My mother-in-law held on to it for five years driving it only now and then but mostly it remained parked in the garage. Then one evening my wife was visiting with her mom and out of the blue her mom told her she wanted ME to have it! She knew I had always loved it and I’m sure she wanted to keep it in the family. Chrissy drove it home that night. I had no idea that she was even thinking about giving it to me! That was pretty special!
The only modification he had made to the truck was installing glass packs. All of his grandsons were into loud exhaust systems, I think he did it to impress them. He did! They all got a kick out of Grandpa revving that engine up! (Grandma would do the same after he was gone, they loved it!)
I have since completely restored it. From the crated 350 engine to the smallest emblem, this truck has had a complete makeover. Whether mechanically or cosmetic, there is very little that has not been done. Finding replacement parts was easier than I expected thanks to LMC Truck. The bumper, grill, lights, mirrors, side rubber molding, are all new. I had it painted the original color and decaled to look the way it did when Mr. T. first saw it. The glass packs have been replaced with flowmasters. I also had the bed sprayed with a Rhino liner and added a 4 inch Pro Comp Suspension Lift, Pro Comp Xtreme MT2 tires and Dick Cepec wheels. I’m sure Mr. T. would be proud.
I have since added side step bars. That was mainly for my mother in law. Chrissy took her to the beach one day and they had to take a step stool along so Grandma could get it and out.
Thank you to everyone at LMC Truck for the awesome service and products!
