This is my 1988 f150 xlt lariat.
When I was 19 I started a career as a drivability tech for a for dealership. One of our heavy line techs bought this truck with 1500 miles on it from the dealership we all worked at in 1988. My close friend bought it from him in 1997 with 80k miles. He put a fresh 5.0L HO from a 93 mustang GT at 100k miles. I bought it from him in 2021 with 168k miles on the truck, so it’s been owned by certified Ford technicians all but 3 months and 1500iles of it life. This was project I needed to get me back into building hot rods again after many years of being away from it. It started with wheels and tires then suspension kits, bushings and shocks. I then decided to paint it a single color and use it for “Date nights” for my wife and I. It’s a modified “Desert sage green” that came on the Infinity line. Having to reach back into the memory banks and remember my paint and bodywork days has been an adventure to say the least. LMC has been an intricate part in this project and getting it back in shape. The available reproduction parts available through LMC makes it so much nicer looking on-line than hunting wrecking yards hoping to find parts for this era of truck.
