1985 Ford F150 – Corey O.

This truck belonged to my pawpaw.
He was a great man who I shared many wonderful memories with.
He is the biggest inspiration in my life on my road to recovery.

He battled with alcohol addiction almost his entire life. Through all the adversity and struggles he went through in addiction, including being placed in a coma due to his addiction, when he finally woke, he vowed to us that he would never drink again. Well, he kept that promise and never touched a drop of alcohol.
The last 8 years of his life, he lived sober and happier than ever. Creating some of the best memories with his family.

I myself battled addiction with drugs and alcohol for nearly 16 years. It was his light that gave me hope and inspiration to get clean. Seeing him win a battle of addiction that most people are not fortunate enough to do, gave me hope and the strength to fight.

On May 24, 2020 that evening we went to his house and I was able to present him with his 8-year sobriety chip. Little did I know that would be the last time I would ever be able to tell him “ I love you Pawpaw” or hug his neck. Sadly on May 25, 2020 he passed away of natural causes. His truck was left to me. As a piece of his memory.

I now have over a handful of continuous clean years, his truck is my piece of him and my tribute to him to keep going strong forever.
I never thought that I would build an award-winning truck, but doing it in his honor makes it even better. It took me 3 years to build this truck myself and now it’s time to let the world see.
