My story started when I was 11. I didn’t have a phone, just a love for vehicles. I started looking for a truck to work on and learn because my dad was always working on nice stuff I couldn’t mess up. So, after a couple months of having to borrow my parent’s phone to check Craigslist. Finally, in January 2018, I found the Bronco. I bugged my dad night and day to see if the guy had answered. He finally told me it was sold to shut me up and sure enough 30 minutes later, the guy texted and my dad had to back track and we went to look at it the next day. We went to look and it was worse than the pics showed. Well, I sat in the truck and decided I wanted it. So, I offered the guy 700 dollars I earned through the summers working with my grandad as a plumber and electrician. The guy accepted the 700 dollar offer and we took the Bronco home. I went through and put the motor back in it that was about to be pulled due to a rusted freeze plug. The Bronco came with new headers, a new carb, new gas tank, and a lot more. Within a week, I had it back running. I did all the work myself with my dad’s help as I was too young to do everything. We rebuilt the axles with NRE bearings and seals, new fluid in everything and in June, we got it on the road. It has some issues with over heating, but after a while, I got those figured out. I started buying and selling parts trucks to make money and get more parts. I’m now 16 working a full time job after school and drive the Bronco to school. I’ve done a ton of work including re-doing the top end of the motor with a cam, heads, valve springs, timing set, and 4 barrel intake. New carpet and seats out of a 1979 Mustang pace car and a 1.5″ lift out of a parts truck I had. I’ve put around 5k miles on the Bronco since I’ve bought it between driving it to Carlisle for All Ford Nationals, Tennessee for Bronco super celebration, Richmond, VA for our Bronco group meet and greet’s and Harrisonburg, VA for off-road trips. I got a Marti report for it, and found out that it’s a 1 of 1 with a rare silver and medium blue paint job, although it’s been repainted before. Future goals for the Bronco is to fix the rust in the fenders and repaint it back to factory colors and enjoy it.
