I purchased this beauty in September of ’82. I am the second owner and have put over 200,000 km on it in that time. It was my main source of transportation for over 30 years. I did paint it a couple of times previously. It became semi-retired (only driven in the summer) 7 years ago shortly before I retired. I figured it was time to go through the truck end to end and top to bottom. I spent a winter going over the box, then drove it in the summer. I spent the next winter freshening up the front half of the truck, then drove it in the summer again. All new paint, I did in base-clear. I then rebuilt a 351 Cleveland and installed that in the truck. I am proud to say that the only metal that is not from a ’79 F-150 are patch panels on the sides of the box over the rear wheels. Through my restoration, I ordered parts from LMC. I purchased door sill plates, black carpeting (it only ever had a rubber floor mat before), and a seat cover kit. There are other parts that I would like to update someday as well. Until then, I will enjoy spending summers cruising in the old girl.
