1981 Chevy C10 – John W.

I have always wanted a square body Chevy ever since I was a kid growing up in East Texas. When I was in middle school, several of the High School guys had one or drove their Dad’s truck. The body lines and the simplicity of the truck is what always drew me to them. I purchased one from a buddy of mine about four years ago. It had most of the typical GM rust and was a step side. After I got it, I discovered that the top was rusted out! Why?!!? Well, it’s what happens when someone shoots spray foam up in it for sound deadening. Omg! So! The search for a new cab was on. I found one with a title and then started ordering parts… Lots of parts! I needed just about everything. After a few years of toil, sweat, and beer, I’m almost completely finished. I bought a donor 2001 2500 HD and pulled the motor and trans. 6.0 with a 4L80E. I dropped it in and got it running. I built a custom dash and swapped out the step side bed for a short fleet side. Lots of body work and the paint looks great. The color is Black Chrystal Saphire. I only have about 1,500 miles on it at this point. Entered it in its first show a few months ago and placed in the top 10.
