I always wanted a classic pickup and one day, a friend told me of one that he thought I could probably afford to buy. I went and checked it out and it was just what I wanted. The truck we affectionately refer to as Clarence now goes out on weekends to ride around town and occasionally appear in a parade to represent our Case knife store, Collectors General Store. It was still very original, which is exactly what I wanted, and we have kept it that way. We have updated the interior and wiring, added rails, new rubber, and powder-coated the wheels. We had the brakes completely reworked, the fuel tank and radiator have been replaced, and the wood in the bed had already been restored. We love the original look and ride of old Clarence, and he always gets a thumbs-up when riding down the street. Owning a classic truck was something I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do. But this old ’54 has been something I have enjoyed tinkering with and cruising the town in.
