1962 Chevy C10 – Brandon S.
I have owned my 1962 C10 since I was 15 years old. Growing up my dad had a 1960 short bed step side 4×4 almost his whole life and I knew I wanted to own my own 60-66 C10. I began my search, and one day my phone rang and it was my grandfather. He said “ Hey there is a 1962 pickup for sale in the newspaper for $2500 and it runs and drives!” That weekend my dad drove me about an hour and a half to go take a look at the truck. When we got there I wanted it the second we pulled in the driveway. It was 3 different colors and all original. After speaking with the gentleman for a bit we agreed on a price and we were taking it home! I spent all my spare time working on the truck doing little things that a 16 year old kid could afford. It started with an engine dress up kit for the small block 283 engine. Then I moved onto new wheels and primed the truck grey so it was all one color. (Didn’t realize it would stay that way for a long time.)
Over the years I learned how to work on cars with the help of my dad. For the next 15 years or so the truck saw many different engines from small blocks, big block engines, manual transmissions, and automatic transmissions. In 2020, I decided to do a full restore build of my truck. The build took me just over 5 years. Spending hours working on it only when my busy family schedule would allow. The paint is a custom pearl white that came out amazing. The truck has a fully built 6.0 ls engine, running an Aces Efi system with a Tremec T56 6 speed manual transmission. The frame has a C-notch in the rear with a custom built 9” rear end with Richmond gears and a posi. The fuel tank is relocated to the back with an in tank fuel pump. The front has tubular control arms upper and lower along with Four wheel disc brakes. I went with a staggered Laguna wheels from Weld Racing. 20×9 in the front and 22×12 in the rear. For the interior custom one piece windows were made to eliminate the vent windows. A TMI bench seat in black leather, black carpet, and bluetooth stereo. This was such a challenging project to complete, but I am glad I stuck with it because it was worth it! The truck turned out amazing and is very fun to drive.
