1982 Chevy K10- Hailey M.
Since I was young, my dad drilled it into my head that my first vehicle was going to be an old Chevy. When I turned 15 my dad and I went to pick up my 1982 k10, Dolly! I was supposed to start driving it when I turned 16, but things took sort of a turn. I had discovered that my rear differential was blown to pieces. I was a 16 year old girl with low funds and fixing it right away was not an option, so it sat on jackstands for around a year. Finally, my dad and I got around to rebuilding it together and got it back on the road, and naturally, more issues came to head. But, we pulled through and got it road worthy for my senior year of highschool.
This truck has seen many tears, created so many happy memories, and taught me countless lessons. It drove me to my last homecoming dance, my graduation ceremony, and to my first big girl job. I still have a lot of work to do, but that’s what makes it fun. I believe fixing this truck up for the past few years has fixed something inside of me in the process. So any dads out there, encourage your daughters to get an old Chevy! You won’t regret it.:)
