1971 Chevy C10 – Mark R.
Back in 2006, I found myself making a six hour round trip from my hometown in Capitan, New Mexico to Albuquerque, New Mexico to pick up a 1971 Chevrolet C10 my wife had inherited after her dad passed away. She said I could have it if I agreed to restore it back to it’s original look. My father in-law was the owner of the truck and used it to go to and from work until it was not as reliable to do so. He then used it to haul large items that required only short mile trips. I kept my agreement to my wife, not having any knowledge of what I was going to have to do to get this goal accomplished. I began the mechanical work and noted what things were going need to be replacement or fixed. I was able to find many of the exterior and interior parts from LMC Truck. It has the original 350 engine and the old AM radio, which both are still working. I was able to find an auto shop that specializes on restoration of old vehicles. They were able to paint it to its original color. I added the chrome bumpers, wheels and power steering, which makes it easier to drive. In addition, I had to replace the windows and windshield. I enjoy driving it and hope to enter it in some auto shows. It’s been a fun and learning endeavor!
