1966 Chevrolet C10 – Bret B.
I acquired this 1966 pick up at a farm auction sale, south of Brainerd, Minnesota in 1987. The vehicle didn’t run and was very rusty and in really rough shape. I paid $45 for this in 1987. I brought it home and decided to try fixing it to get it running for possibly use for off-road pick up on the farm. I got it running and thought maybe I should fix the body some. Started working on that and ended up going all through the body and repainting everything and keeping its original in 1987. I had it almost completed. Had some bumpers chrome for it, order a lot of parts from LMC, including the side trim because it’s a custom deluxe and the floorboards. Had it running about 80% complete or more and ran out of time to work on it because I was on a dairy farm milking 100 cows at the time. I parked the vehicle in the shed, got it out about 1995 and drove it about 10 miles. There was a couple things wrong with it. The carburetor seemed to be getting rust into it and the water pump leaked in ’95 so I parked it back in the shed and it sat there until 2015. I got laid off from the job I was working on and finally had some time to work on it. Got it up and running and started using it for parades representing 4H/FFA and the Steel Workers. Back in 1987, my brother and cousin were playing Monopoly about the same time. I was refinishing this vehicle and realized it’s a light blue like the color of boardwalk in Monopoly so I decided to name the vehicle Boardwalk. I recently put a new coat of paint on the vehicle and I use the side trim that was in a box that I got from LMC Truck back in ’87. I still haven’t installed the floorboards in the bed. They are also in a box in storage that came from LMC Truck. They’ve been in storage since 1987. The vehicle is a work in progress. People still really like to see this truck thanks to LMC Truck, parts are very available and makes it very easy to work on when you have the parts to work with original parts.
