1992 Chevrolet S10 – Jensen L.
Ever since I was little, every time I went to visit my grandparents’ house, I couldn’t help but look at the S10 sitting in their driveway collecting dust and would always ask my nana about it. Later on, when I was about 9 years old, I asked my papa for the S10 so my dad and I could start a project together and build it for my first vehicle, and he and my nana made the decision to give it to me for Valentine’s Day.
For the next few months, I gathered up parts, mostly from an S10 that my dad bought from my Papa’s friend, with only 20k miles on it. It was totaled from a car accident, and we pieced it together with a new full chrome front bumper, clear marker lights, LED headlights (all from LMC Truck), and a factory chrome grille that I found in my Papa’s garage that he let me have. My other grandpa (Pow Pow) helped by ordering different components off of LMC Truck and helping us work on it. We also put a factory S10 Blazer digital gauge that we found off of eBay.
Later on, in August of 2024, when I was almost 13, my dad told me that it was going to a shop to get worked on, but actually it was going to a paint shop where it would be getting painted. I waited for about two months for it to be out of the mechanic’s shop and back home with the same mismatched paint it already had. While I was at a car show that we brought our Chevelle to, my dad pointed out to me a bright blue S10 with chrome wheels going down the road and pulling in to be accepted into the show. He wouldn’t let me look at it until we looked at every other car in the show. When we finally got to go look at it, I noticed our same license plate on it and looked around it to see a picture of my truck before it was painted. I knew it was mine.
The paint was a Dino blue metallic paint job, and the wheels were Ridler 695 series deep dish chrome wheels. I ended up winning third place in the car show that day, and when we got home my dad decided to put the bench seat out of the parts truck inside my truck. Since then, I have tinted my windows, ceramic coated the truck and brought it to many other car shows.
