1980 GMC C15 – Matt G.

The truck is originally from Alabama but has spent quite a few years in New England, now residing in NH. What I thought was going to be not too labor intensive turned out to be the opposite (per usual). Fortunately, I am an auto body technician by trade and am decent enough with a spray gun. The original plan was to sand the entire truck down, fix some dings and a fresh paint job but as I dug in, I found the inevitable cancer. Rockers, cab corners, fenders and bed sides were nothing but bondo over rust and holes, sun of a gun. I’m all set with that, nor do I want a truck with a million rust patches so I order up a bunch of new sheet metal. Fortunately, the floor, doors and rest of the truck were clean of rust and you could eat off the frame.
After handling the body, I got it sitting right with a 4/6 lowering kit (which is really 5/7), some Coys wheels and fresh steering components. All new lights, a full interior, a factory two tone paint job and a 700r4 to gain some better cruise ability at speed. Now I’m just waiting for the original 350 to quit to replace that with a big block. For now, it continues to run excellent and really wow passengers with 160 horse power. 98 percent of the parts I have got from LMC and I have been happy overall with the quality of what I’ve received. Thanks for reading and let’s keep the old iron on the road!
