1987 Chevy C10 – Ryan G.

My truck belonged to my Gpa. He bought it new in 1987 and drove it for 24 years. It is the truck we all learned to drive on. I fell in love with it as I got older and paid more attention to cars. I recall sitting with both Gma and Gpa at lunch one day and asking what they were going to do with the white truck. I expressed my interest in owning it because it was the same age as me. Nothing was said so I left it at that. Well some time had passed and the truck was parked in the barn because he could no longer drive around. It sat there for over a year without being moved or started. Well Gpa and my Uncles were conversing and the truck was brought up. I was standing across the room when I heard my Gpa ask this question, “How hard will it be for the new owner to get it tagged and back on the road?” Everyone replied, “Not hard at all, why do you ask?” Well he pointed to me, it is something I will never forget, and said “There’s the new owner.” I froze in shock and excitement. He passed away in 2012 and when the time was right I bought it from my Gma. Proud to say it will stay in the family because one day I will pass it on to my son or grandsons. It is a very cool feeling to own a truck the same age as myself.
