1964 Chevy C10 – Bill T.

Patience Pays Off

I have always been a car guy—there is nothing I love more than working on, showing, and driving classic cars and trucks. Little did I know when I started restoring this particular truck, it would become the most trying and difficult project of my life.
The year was 1997 when I decided to purchase my 1964 C-10 Chevrolet Pickup. I drove it for 2 summers back and forth for work. The truck had a few mechanical issues like overheating and brakes, but the body was in fair condition. Sure, it had some rust, dents, and faded paint, but I could see it’s potential. In 1999, I decided to take it apart and start a restoration. I soon found out that it wasn’t going to be an easy task.

Over the next decade, there was little time and money available for my hobby, as I was supporting a family of six. Life happens, but I never forgot that old truck collecting dust in the garage. I knew someday I would get back at it.
In 2015, I decided to get serious about restoring the pickup. Though slow at first, I was able to make some progress. The process often seemed like it was one step forward and two steps back. There were several ups and downs, not to mention a lot of problem solving and big delays. After retiring in 2017, I had all the time in the world to focus on the truck. I did everything myself; I am proud to say! The more I completed, the happier I became. I changed a lot of parts, painted the body, and installed the drive train. The light at the end of the tunnel was getting close!

Although the road was long and rough, I have finally completed my 1964 C-10 Chevy Pickup—a day I never thought would happen at times. I am proud to say I built this beauty from the ground up. I can finally spend my time enjoying all the hard work put into this 20+ year restoration.
I definitely feel like I am part of the LMC Family. Over 85% of my parts came from LMC. They always had what I needed. Thumbs up for sure!

Thank You for Your Time,
Bill Taylor
