1979 Ford Bronco – Justin F.

I purchased this ’79 Bronco in December of 2023 in Monticello, WI where it sat in a tree line for 25 plus years. I saw the potential there and the significance of it being a freewheeling edition. The previous owner and myself got the 400 running and I drove it on the trailer and took it home. My original plan was to keep the body the way it was and get it road worthy. Upon further inspection of it, I knew I wasn’t going to be happy with the way the body was, so the tear down began. At 35, I have taken on a couple other projects but nothing of this size. The body went on a rotisserie, where the rust repair began. The 400 motor and trans were pulled and sent to SMC Performance in Monroe, WI for a full rebuild. The frame and suspension were completely disassembled and sent for sandblasting and powdercoat at Madison Powdercoat in Stoughton, WI. December of 2025 assembly began from the ground up. Mike Buol did and amazing job with body work and paint. July 2026, it saw the road again for the first time in probably 30 years. Still doing some finishing touches but I can finally enjoy the hours of work. It sits on a 2.5” Skyjacker lift with 16×10 Weld rims and 305/70/16 Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP tires. Was repainted in original Raven Black and factory style decals replaced. Tan interior was replaced with retro style red throughout. Will be enjoying this truck for many years to come.
